Local Dioceses are also taking steps to further protect their children and prevent pedophiles from being hired into the church.

Mosigner Charles Scicluna, the former sex crimes prosecutor, stated in a recent article found on the Ecumenial News website, that Pope Francis will not show leniency towards pedophile and pederast priests because truth and justice are more important than protecting the Church. The Pope, who was elected last March, set up a commission of experts last month to address sexual abuse within the Catholic Church, in his first major step to tackle this issue.
